InfoPath Forms Services is retired
Microsoft ended support for InfoPath Forms Services in SharePoint Online on 14 July 2026. Publishing new or updated InfoPath forms was already blocked after 18 May 2026. There is no option to extend it.
Why the form stopped
InfoPath rendered your SharePoint form. With Forms Services turned off, that rendering layer is gone, so the form no longer loads even though the underlying SharePoint list is untouched. This is a planned Microsoft retirement, not an outage that will come back.
What to do now
- Confirm which forms are affected. Any list that opened a custom InfoPath form is now back to the default SharePoint form or an error. Note the busiest ones first.
- Rebuild the highest-priority form. Point a supported designer at the same list, recreate the fields and rules, and publish. Most simple forms take under an hour.
- Test with real data on a couple of list items before you tell the wider team the form is back.
- Work through the rest in order of how much they are used.
Your list data is safe
The records in your SharePoint list are separate from the form. Losing the InfoPath form does not delete or change any list items. You are rebuilding the way people enter and edit data, not the data itself.
